Slayers 2 Starter Build: Katana, Defense & Zuko Upgrades

Begin with the Regular Katana, learn to block and reposition, and use Krue’s bandit quests to progress toward Zuko. Treat Cutlass and Quick Draw as upgrades to pursue, not equipment you must own before starting.

Acquisition and upgrade order

  1. Speak to Krue near the starting area and accept the three-bandit quest.
  2. Use the starting combat options to earn the money for a Regular Katana if you cannot buy one yet.
  3. Buy the Regular Katana from the sword shop in the beginner village and equip it from the inventory.
  4. Repeat the bandit quest and take Krue’s Zuko quest once its level-7 requirement is met.
  5. Inspect Zuko rewards for Cutlass and Quick Draw. Keep progressing with your existing sword when the drops do not appear.

How to use the starter setup

Fight around openings rather than remaining in range and trading every hit. Block or move out when an enemy begins its attack sequence, then close the gap for your own attacks. Reposition before the next enemy joins the fight.

The main goal at this stage is repeatable quest completion. If you repeatedly run out of stamina or lose a fight after one interruption, fix that problem before chasing a more elaborate damage combination. Read the actual bonuses on new equipment before swapping it in.

Cutlass is an upgrade path, not a starting requirement

Zuko can drop the Cutlass weapon and the Quick Draw skill. Owning one does not mean the other has dropped, so inspect the reward and the corresponding skill-tree entry separately.

The Fancy Katana is another shop purchase at 1,500 Wen, but waiting to afford it delays starting mastery with the cheaper sword. Begin with the Regular Katana and reassess later purchases against the trainer and resource costs on your next route.

Where this build stops

This is an opening progression setup for ordinary quests and the first boss, not a complete PvP combination or a late-game breathing build. Once you select a breathing style, your required skills, materials and combat sequence need a dedicated plan.

Before moving to a new farming area, set a nearby spawn point. Reducing the return journey after a defeat makes learning the next enemies less disruptive.
