Slayers 2 Water PvE Build: Skills & Tomioka Rotation

Start with your katana and unlocked Water moves, then expand the rotation as Water Mastery opens the later skills. Tomioka adds a five-second block follow-up and a two-skill random cooldown reset; use those opportunities when you have a safe opening. Dead Calm is a later upgrade, not a requirement for starting Water PvE.

The Water PvE setup

This is a staged PvE setup for Water players. You do not need to finish rerolling a clan before progressing: learn the base moves with your current clan, then add Tomioka’s conditions if you obtain it.

Keep a working weapon while saving for training. The starter route uses a 500 Wen Regular Katana; an expensive replacement does not bypass the Water skill tree.

Build in stages instead of waiting for the final move

The four listed later purchases total 42 skill points. That budget excludes the starting move, general upgrades and clan skills. Follow the connected Water nodes and reserve points for the next eligible purchase.

Do not spend points assuming a new character level will unlock Dead Calm. Read Water Mastery and the Defeat Giyen condition independently. After the encounter, check the node before repeating the fight.

A practical PvE rotation to rehearse

Use this as a decision loop. Enemy movement, blocks and recovery can interrupt a sequence; advance only while your previous attack has connected and you can still see the target.

  1. Begin in open ground with your target visible and your next Water move ready. Avoid starting a long sequence against a wall that hides the camera.
  2. Defend against the opening attack. With Tomioka, a block creates the Flowing Counter opportunity: use your next Water skill within five seconds for its +15% damage effect. Do not force the cast if the enemy is already attacking again.
  3. Use a short M1 sequence when the enemy is open, then connect one Water skill. Check the target’s position before pressing another attack.
  4. If the enemy blocks, moves out of reach or starts its own attack, end your sequence and reposition. Resume after another opening instead of pressing every skill on the bar.
  5. Once useful skills are on cooldown, use Tomioka’s Flowing Motion when safe. Inspect which two skills returned, then choose the next attack from those actually available.
  6. When no useful follow-up is ready, defend and make space. Restart the loop when both the opening and the required skill are available.

Use Tomioka’s bonuses without wasting the reset

Water Clarity and Flowing Counter have different conditions and wording. Do not add their percentages together as a universal damage multiplier. A short encounter may finish before Clarity reaches three stacks.

Flowing Motion is a clan skill, purchased separately from Water. If points are limited, compare its purchase with the next Water move you can actually unlock.

Ability or passiveConditionBuild decision
Flowing CounterAfter a block, the next Water skill within 5 seconds gains +15% damageKeep a Water move available for a safe counter opportunity.
Flowing MotionResets two random skillsSpend it after cooldowns become relevant, then read the bar; do not plan around a guaranteed Dead Calm reset.
Water ClarityEvery 15 seconds in combat: +3% Water Damage Factor and -3% Water Stamina Cost Factor, up to 3 stacksLonger fights can build to +9% and -9% at three stacks. Staying alive matters more than forcing an extra hit.
Pain ResistanceAvoids the low-health movement slowdownUse the mobility to escape and recover position; low health is still dangerous.

Check inputs before blaming the build

For Dead Calm, hold the skill input rather than only tapping it. Practice the input against a manageable target before relying on it in a boss opening. An unlocked node and a correctly performed move are separate checks.

For every new Water move, first test it by itself. Watch where it leaves your character, whether you still face the enemy and how soon you can safely choose your next action. Only then add it to your M1 sequence.

Keep the camera clear and adapt your controls to your device. Mobile button size and shift lock can change how comfortably you aim and reposition.

When the Water build stops working

Before moving to harder PvE, aim to repeat three things reliably: a short attack-and-exit sequence, a block follow-up when safe, and a reset decision based on the actual combat bar. Add another move only when it improves that loop.

ProblemAdjustment
Flowing Motion did not restore the move you expectedCheck the two random resets and use the skills that actually returned.
You cannot exploit the block bonusKeep a Water move ready and look for a safe follow-up inside the five-second window.
The enemy escapes the sequenceStop treating it as a fixed combo. Reposition and wait for a new opening.
Dead Calm does not activate after a quick tapHold its input and confirm the skill is ready on the combat bar.
Dead Calm remains lockedCheck Mastery 53, 15 unspent points, the connected branch and Defeat Giyen.
You are taking damage while waiting for cooldownsUse shorter attack sequences and leave room to disengage; a reset does not replace defense.
