Prepare the shovel and meet Retsu at night

Finish Iceveil Guard Shiro's Supply the Settlement route first if Winter Store Rep Lynx does not offer a Shovel. Carry the Shovel before following the lantern trail so you can open the snow dig when you reach it.

At night, travel south from the Mother Bear area to Old Trapper Retsu. Choose the dialogue about the lantern on his belt. In the recorded v140 route the creator pays 2,500 Wen; check Retsu's current dialogue for the price in your server.

Find the Mushroom Lit Lantern

The cave damages an unlit character in the video. Bring healing and use the campfire on the approach if your health is low. The creator repeated the mushroom interaction and rejoined once; that was their troubleshooting experience, not a required quest step.

1. Unequip your current lantern before entering the dark cave beyond Retsu.
2. Step on the glowing cave mushrooms until their particle effects appear, then continue deeper to the Mushroom Lit Lantern pickup.
3. Equip Mushroom Lit Lantern from Inventory and return through the cave.

Follow the blue footprints and dig

A schematic is the design needed for a later forge step. The observed dig is not evidence that the weapon is already crafted, nor does the video establish its material recipe or damage.

1. With Mushroom Lit Lantern equipped, look for the blue footprints appearing on the snowy route beyond the cave.
2. Follow the trail to its snow patch and dismount if your mount obstructs the interaction.
3. Use the Shovel on the dig point and pick up the reward. The video labels it Firstlight Tanto Schematic.

If the trail or pickup does not appear

Check the order: Retsu's night dialogue, no lantern while touching cave mushrooms, Mushroom Lit Lantern pickup, then equip the new lantern before searching for footprints. A normal lantern does not show the same hidden trail in the recorded route.

If you reach the snow but cannot dig, verify a Shovel is in your Inventory. The Firstlight War Fans hunt uses the same tool, so its supply and shop guide is a useful prerequisite.
